I was out in the ocean of self-doubt, drowning in the negative thought process. Silently slipping under continuous waves of comparison, self hate, and loathsomeness. Silently losing faith, not finding bottom, I was taking my last gasp for air and the sharks had begun to circle. During a break in the waves, Sam Heughan dropped me a life-preserver. I decided to grab onto that precious ring of hope and hold on with every ounce of strength and self-preservation I had left. Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” This has become my motto for My Peak Challenge. What do I lose compared to what I might gain? I must leave this ocean of mine to find out.
